The OnePlus Nord 2T, the Rolls-Royce of smartphones under 400 euros – Geeko

It moves towards entry level. The three largest manufacturers have completely renewed their range of devices in the past few weeks. With the Nord 2T, the OnePlus brand has hit the ground running and is delivering the new Rolls Royce among devices for less than 400 euros.

OnePlus strikes again with its Nord 2T. The Chinese manufacturer delivers an extremely powerful device at an extremely competitive price. The Nord 2T retails for €399 and has a spec sheet very similar to that of its competitors. In terms of performance, however, it stands out with its Dimensity 1300 processor, which has a truly amazing speed.

If MediaTek processors once got a bad rap, the Dimensity 1300 will likely change your mind about them completely. The device beats its competitors in the benchmarks and proves to be extremely efficient in everyday use. No slowdown in sight, the interface is ultra-smooth. Anyone who can make the difference with a terminal for around €800 would be very happy. In terms of experience, therefore, OnePlus hits very hard as we feel we’re sitting on a high-end model.

The choice of design is not trivial. Despite a plastic body, the device conveys a very pleasant premium feeling, with an impeccable finish, a soft touch, an elegant photo block, slightly curved edges and a style that is again very sober.

With its pretty 90 Hertz Amoled display, its powerful processor and its trio of high-performance sensors, the device meets practically all criteria, which score very well overall, without of course coming close to the performance of high-end models. The overall rendering is very good. What we have to criticize is the level of detail with the unconvincing digital zoom and colors that are a little too saturated. Assuming you don’t use the zoom and do some post-processing on your images, you should logically be convinced. The combination of 3 back sensors serves its purpose. The front camera surprises with similar performance as the sensor of the big brother OnePlus 10 Pro. The reproduction is really very good, even against the light. In terms of photos, however, the Nord 2T does not necessarily stand out from its competitors.

A timid development

Ultimately, the OnePlus Nord 2T brings few real improvements compared to its predecessor. The technical data sheet has practically not changed. OnePlus has focused its efforts on improving overall performance, with a new processor and a slight increase in RAM (8 versus 6 before) bringing a bit of freshness to the range. The design has been revised and some small innovations catch the eye – including that famous 80W fast charge. However, nothing that warrants a complete upgrade if you fell for last year’s model.

Very tough competition

The competition is also tough in the entry-level range and especially in the price range from 300 to 400 euros. The Nord 2T is up against a whole range of terminals, all of which share a very similar spec sheet. All are equipped with a 90 Hz AMOLED screen, all show relatively similar performance, all have practically the same combination of photo sensors. What sets them apart from the others, of course, apart from the design, are a few small special features. The Nord 2T stands out above all for its fast charging system, which is clearly superior to that of its competitors (80W versus 65 and 25W respectively). It’s also slightly faster than the Reno7 and Galaxy A33. The Reno7 has higher storage capacity on its side. Note, however, that price-wise the Nord 2T is the most expensive of the three. And no wonder, that’s important too.

The +:

  • Good value for money (399€)
  • A very elegant design
  • The very light software overlay
  • Solid performance thanks to the Dimensity processor
  • 80W load
  • High quality selfies

That – :

  • Only 2 years updates
  • fingerprints on the back
  • Slightly more expensive than the competition

So do we crack?

At €399, the OnePlus Nord 2T is undoubtedly a very good deal. It meets almost all criteria. With its slim design, its solid performance and its very nice Amoled screen, the OnePlus smartphone positions itself as a very versatile device that stands out from its competitors for a particularity: its fast charging system (80W!) that allows you to charge fully charge Charge the battery in 27 minutes. Not everything is perfect, of course, but the Nord 2T beats its competitors in this segment. It is equipped with an AMOLED display, performs very well in terms of photos – without, of course, competing with an 800 euro device – and has few extras that make the difference on a daily basis. At 399 euros, however, it is slightly more expensive than the competition.
