Five Days at the Memorialon AppleTV+

Exit: August 12, 2022

In 2013, almost eight years after the devastating hurricane Katrina, the American journalist Sheri Fink published five days memorial, a book that chronicles the nightmare experienced by the medical teams and patients confined to the Memorial Center medical facility in New Orleans. His work is now being adapted into a series by Apple TV+, starring actress Adepero Aduye (seen in Twelve years as a slave or The Big Short Film) and Vera Farmiga (Incantation). The production’s script is based on real events and focuses on the ordeal endured by establishment doctors who are forced to make life-or-death decisions. Shocking.

A league of its ownon Amazon Prime Video

Exit: August 12, 2022

Perhaps you remember the 1992 feature film starring Tom Hanks that had the exact same title? Exactly twenty years later, Amazon Prime Video now decides to take over the script to bring this sporting and feminist story up to date. Like the film, the series offers a fictional interpretation of the founding of America’s first-ever women’s baseball team in 1943. While the narrative framework remains similar, the characters differ from those of the original production. The episodes follow players after forming their team as they deal with racism, sexism and the challenges of competition. The cast also seems very promising, with talented actresses who are still little known, such as author and screenwriter Abbi Jackson (Disenchanted), Adams sang (A diary for Jordan) or D’Arcy Carden (The good place).

my first time Season 3 on Netflix

Exit: August 12, 2022

This comedy teenager, which is quite appreciated by Generation Z, has given few hints about its third season. We’ll find the Indo-American heroine Devi (played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) as she continues to oscillate between her two resisting suitors, Paxton and Ben. In summary, it is a classic duel between the bright nice boy and the bad boy pure, between which the main character can hardly decide. But far from confining itself to clichés, the staging develops with benevolence and humor the difficulties of puberty, the need to build one’s own identity and open oneself to the adventures of life. So we easily bond with the protagonist Devi and her friends Eleanor and Fabiola.

She Hulk: Lawyeron Disney+

Exit: August 17, 2022

To Miss Wonder, aimed more at a teenage audience, it’s another heroine from the original graphic novels’ turn to claim her place in the sun! This time it’s the female alter ego of the powerful Hulk named Jennifer Walters. A cousin of Bruce Banner (the first Hulk), she received her powers through a blood transfusion. From that moment on, the brilliant lawyer transforms like Bruce into She-Hulk and must juggle between her career and her new role as a superheroine with a neon green complexion. If the main role of Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black, Parks and Recreation), Mark Ruffalo, in the skin of Hulk, is also in the game.

Since the trailer aired, however, some fans have pointed out that Jennifer Walters’ appearance is very different from the female Hulk portrayed in the comics: the latter is actually more muscular, while the series character meets current beauty standards. This contrast has caused controversy, especially on social networks.

This selection ends with the most anticipated production of summer 2022, that of fans game of Thrones I’ve been struggling to figure this out for months. This is obviously the famous prequel in which we will discover the dark past of the Targaryen dynasty, the royal family that will give birth to a certain Daenerys. Based on the novel fire and blood The screenplay, written by George RR Martin, takes place more than two centuries before the Queen of the Silver-Haired Dragons was born.

However, we do meet some of his illustrious ancestors, such as King Viserys (played by Paddy Considine) and Prince Daemon Targaryen (played by Matt Smith, the portrayer of Prince Philip in Season 1 of The crown). Both are mentioned several times in the first volumes of the written saga and (of course) quarrel over the choice of heir or heiress to the Iron Throne. The king wants that title to go to Princess Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy), whose place is coveted by her rivals.

The scenario and atmosphere of the trailer reminds us very much of that of the original series, which promises beautiful moments of nostalgia for this return to Westeros. Although the HBO platform is not yet available in Switzerland, it will be possible to see the production on Blue Video (by Swisscom).

And on the cinema side?
