After its novelty-packed spring keynote, Apple is resuming its June habits with its WWDC 2022 developer conference taking place this Monday. On the menu: iOS 16, macOS 13, watchOS 9… and maybe virtual reality and a MacBook Air. Follow the conference live.
Share photos more easily
A new cloud-based option allows users to automatically share specific photos. You just need to configure the options to clearly indicate which contacts can be part of your shared gallery. Then you can ask the application to only share the photos where you can be seen with your spouse or partner, for example.
Please note that iOS 16 is still involved in data security, which has always been at the heart of Apple’s communications.
Apple Maps is being improved in France
Apple Plan offers maps with 3D modeling in more places for better immersion. France is concerned.
Apple Pay Later introduced, but what is it?
Here’s Apple Pay Later. Thanks to this new function, you can use Apple Pay to pay in 4 installments if you cannot or do not want to advance the entire amount at once.
That’s not all, Apple Wallet enables ID card storage in more geographic areas. France seems concerned if we are to believe a tweet from the official France Identity account.
iOS 16 is getting smarter
iOS 16 improves oral dictation more than ever to recognize exactly what the user is saying in order to transcribe it in writing. But that’s not all, the Live Text feature is also optimized to effectively understand the text displayed in a video for easy copy and paste. Ditto for the camera function of the translation app. It’s also this ability of iOS 16 that allows you to convert currencies simply by photographing the price posted on a product.
Improved focus mode and messaging app
iOS 16 also comes with a focus mode update to even better sort your activities that you want to stay “focused” on. For example, Safari allows you to only show work-related tabs during the day so you’re not distracted by other tabs you might have open.
On the Messages app side, Apple also presents new features:
- easier correction of typos;
- cancel a sent message;
- mark a conversation as unread.
That’s not all. The SharePlay feature arrives in the Messages app.
iOS 16 and its new locked screen
We attack immediately with Heavy and iOS 16 which has a lock screen more customizable than ever. With a few relatively simple gestures, you can change the font, wallpaper, or even display important information.
You can opt for screens with animations or simpler and more sober screens. In short, have fun. And Apple clearly indicates application developers that they have the opportunity to offer functions dedicated to this locked screen.
In addition, notifications are also improved to show them grouped intelligently for better viewing on the lock screen.
Tim Cook on the report
Tim Cook apparently begins the WWDC 2022 keynote, taking the opportunity to recall Apple’s commitments and actions to highlight minorities and expand its developer community.
It begins !
That’s it, let’s go! The credits are running!
We’re live on Twitch
Don’t hesitate to follow the WWDC 2022 conference live on Frandroid’s Twitch channel with our moderator Arnaud and our guest PP Garcia! Our journalist Melinda is also on hand to cover the San Francisco event.
A little more waiting time
We slowly take our seats to follow the Apple WWDC 2022 conference. Apple is not used to being late (at least not more than a few minutes). In addition, the conference is pre-recorded, so the keynote starts smoothly a priori.
The invitation to WWDC 2022 had already provided some potential clues. A few more hours until it’s known what Tim Cook and his family have in store for developers and the general public, who can attend the introductory keynote at the developer conference on Monday. If we’re obviously waiting for iOS, macOS, or even watchOS, it may also be time for Apple to reveal the first bits of a new world the company envisions around its products.
When and where to watch the Apple keynote?
WWDC 2022 will be held online all week. It begins with the opening speech, which begins this Monday, June 6 at 7:00 p.m. (10:00 a.m. SF) and can be followed live on our website and on Frandroid’s Twitch channel from 6:30 p.m. with Arnaud and his guests .
To follow the full keynote, Tim Cook’s speech, and his teams’ presentation of each operating system, Apple will be streaming the conference on its Apple.com website and YouTube channel. So just start the video below when the conference starts.

Note that the video is pre-recorded and the event is not live this year either.
What is WWDC 2022?
The Worldwide Developers Conference 22 or Apple Developers’ Conference takes place every year in June and is aimed at content, application and software developers thanks to the various operating systems branded by Apple. This event will last from June 6th to 10th this year. It consists of several sessions, workshops and other gatherings to give developers from all over the world the opportunity to discuss with the Cupertino teams about the new operating system (iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS) and possibly new products or programming tools .
It usually takes place at the San Jose Convention Center. But this year, as it has been for two years, it will be mostly online, although this time a thousand developers and certain media, including Frandroid, will be able to travel to California for this hybrid conference. The highlight of WWDC is of course the introductory keynote that kicks off the week and takes place this Monday, June 6th. It will be streamed online and aired at the Steve Jobs Theater for a thousand developers invited to the occasion.
What are we showing there?
The new operating systems for iPhone and iPod (iOS 16), iPad (iPadOS 16), Mac (macOS 13), Apple Watch (watchOS 9) and Apple TV (tvOS 16) will be presented at WWDC. All new features will be revealed there, often giving a preview of what the products will feature by the start of the school year (expected iPhone 14 and upcoming Apple Watch Series 8).
According to Apple, 2022 should also be the opportunity to finally discover the vision of virtual reality. The helmet is unlikely to be seen in the final version, but the possible applications should be disclosed, if only to get developers to get to work. There are also rumors of the arrival of a new MacBook Air or even a Mac Pro with a supercharged M1 chip.
We’ll give you an update on expectations in a dedicated article.
