April 21, 1926 Queen Elizabeth II of England, née Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, was born in London. In her childhood, when her mother traveled a lot, she was brought up by a nurse. In 1936 her father became king and the royal family moved to Buckingham where Queen Mary raised her granddaughter.
November 20, 1947 Elizabeth II and Philip Mountbatten celebrate their wedding at Westminster Abbey. In the summer of 1939, the future Queen accompanied her father to Dartmouth Naval Academy and fell in love with Philip of Greece, a third cousin five years her senior. They become secretly engaged in the summer of 1946. From this union Charles was born in 1948, Anne in 1950, Andrew in 1960 and Edward in 1964.
June 2, 1953 Elizabeth II is crowned Queen at the age of 26, having died in February of the same year after the death of her father George VI. ascended the English throne. She became queen of sixteen independent states and head of the Commonwealth. However, as supreme leader of the state, the Anglican Church and the armies, Elizabeth II does not have absolute direct power.

1992 In her year-end speech, the Queen evokes an “annus horribilis”. Three of her children are separating from her spouse, Windsor Castle is hit by an accidental fire, there is much controversy surrounding the Queen’s fortune and the royal family’s lifestyle.
Aug. 31, 1997 Chased by paparazzi, Princess Diana, her companion Dodi Al-Fayed and their driver died in a traffic accident in Paris. Elizabeth II has been widely criticized for her timid response that has not kept up with popular emotions.
Nov. 20, 1997 Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip celebrate 50 years of marriage. In a rare public tribute, the monarch says her husband is “someone who doesn’t take compliments lightly, but he’s just been my rock all these years”.
February 6, 2012 Celebrations are being organized to mark the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the throne. In particular, the sovereign visited a town hall and a kindergarten. Other events will follow over the next five months, including a grand parade down the River Thames in June 2012.
September 9, 2015 Elizabeth II breaks the record for longevity on the British throne, surpassing the 63 years, 7 months and 2 days on the throne of her great-grandmother, Queen-Empress Victoria, who ruled between 1837 and 1901.

April 9, 2021 Death of Prince Philip at the age of 99, after a life of retirement and in the service of the monarchy since his marriage to his ‘Lilibet’ 73 years ago. Elizabeth II is losing what she says has been her “strength” and “support” since her coronation in 1952.
