Dive into the world of SmartThings at the Future Gen House – Samsung Global Newsroom

After the sound of a push notification, a scene for a dance battle accompanied by bright lights will appear in front of you and your friends. This is just a small part of the modern virtual experience available in the Future Gen House.

The Future Gen House is a place where Generation Z (Gen Z) can fully immerse themselves in a hyper-connected experience powered by Samsung Electronics’ SmartThings.

SmartThings offers a fully connected device experience that adapts to the user’s lifestyle. It not only connects Samsung products and services, but also other smart devices. Devices such as TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, and others are all organically connected to create a personalized space and experience based on user needs.

To familiarize and connect Gen Z with SmartThings, Samsung created the Future Gen House.

Based on the popular Gen Z trend of home sharing, the Future Gen House comes equipped with a variety of Samsung products, all connected to SmartThings.

In the Future Gen House, each room is designed and organized around one of five different Gen Z interest categories, including gaming, entertainment, sports and fitness, cooking and eating. There are also common spaces, including a living room and dining room, where visitors can converse and interact with one another.

Samsung Gen Z employees from the Future Generation Lab, Gen Z influencers and students moved in and lived together in the house for two weeks. In the Future Gen House, they interacted with Samsung and SmartThings products and created unique scenarios based on their own preferences and lifestyles.

Remote Dance Battle: Host real-time online dance battles with your friends

If a friend sends you a specific keyword, recognizing the keywords will automatically activate the default distance dance mode. The Sero, Samsung 4K Smart TV and Smart Lighting are on and the smartphone screen connects to the Sero during the video call using the Smart View feature.

Now it’s time to enjoy the distance dance battle with your friends. You can change the color of the lighting with a smart button to set the mood. By using SmartThings, users can enjoy a hyper-connected experience with loved ones even when they are far away.

Your gym, my gym, our gym: create your own gym simply by identifying your smartphone

Turn a shared gym into your own home gym with SmartThings. Simply attach your smartphone to the NFC sticker on the wall and enjoy your own personal fitness mode. The user-preset fitness mode offers activities such as dance, yoga and boxing modes. With SmartThings, you can make any place your own personalized space.

OnBirthday Party: A super easy way to plan a surprise party

The moment you turn off the stove after preparing a meal for your friend’s birthday, the preset birthday party mode is activated. A birthday message appears on the screen of The Frame, Samsung’s lifestyle TV, and the room where the party will take place is decorated with lights. With this easy-to-use Birthday Party Mode setting in SmartThings, users can enjoy precious moments and create lasting memories on special occasions.

SmartThings Mural Challenge: Create your own mural with a click of the S Pen button

With SmartThings you can bring your own artwork into a room and use it to create a mural. With just one click of the S Pen button, the preset wall drawing mode creates an optimal mood for you to design a mural. When the Galaxy Tab S8+ is connected to the Freestyle, Samsung’s portable and easy-to-use projector, you can project your artwork onto the wall and simply draw on it, making it easy to create a new artwork.

SmartThings scenarios created at the Future Gen House in Korea and the UK were turned into videos and shared as a 30-episode series. These videos use a fast-paced editing style popular with Gen Z along with addictive, catchy songs that reiterate key messages like “Future Gen House,” “SmartThings,” and “#LiveYourFree.” These videos will be available starting August 11 on Samsung’s official Instagram, TikTok and YouTube accounts, as well as the Instagram or TikTok accounts of participating influencers. In the second half of this year, the Future Generation Lab will open the Future Gen House to additional countries, including in Latin America, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
