Hennessy is heavily into basketball
In spring 2021, the number 1 cognac signed a new partnership with the NBA, the all-powerful American basketball league. “This sponsorship, which we are negotiating to extend to 2030, is not trivial,” assured CEO Laurent Boillot in May 2022. The proof: the following month, Hennessy and the NBA floated a giant basketball court on the Thames in London. where three days of competitions and parties were organized.
The retailer recently unveiled an incredible bottle on social media: a decanter of Hennessy Paradis Cognac (the ultimate in the range) in the shape of a basketball! The creation is signed by Lorenz Bäumer, jeweler Place Vendôme in Paris. Only 75 examples were made from Baccarat crystal decorated with fine gold. Why 75? Because the NBA is celebrating its 75th birthdaye Anniversary. The price is not disclosed.
Martell is renovating his store
The au Martinet brand, a subsidiary of the Pernod Ricard group, refreshes its store on the ground floor of the Gâtebourse tower in Cognac. Called L’Atelier, the new space is inspired by the luxury counters recently opened in Asia, particularly in the megacity of Shenzhen (China), where tastings are punctuated by digital animations. Here in the Charente, the retailer promises “an enriched customer experience in which the digital and physical dimensions are harmoniously integrated”. Among the new offers: the customization of bottles of “Cognac on tap”.
Rémy Martin and singer Usher: from real to virtual
For more than ten years, the American singer Usher, star of R’n’B, with 65 million records sold on the surface of the world, has been Rémy Martin’s ambassador in the United States. Their partnership takes on a new dimension in the virtual world of NFTs, those new digital objects that are disrupting the contemporary art market. Let’s summarize, because things aren’t as straightforward as the eau-de-vie that comes out of the still: the artist was invited to describe the aromas of the 1738 Accord Royal Cuvée; his enthusiasm was greedily swallowed by an artificial intelligence; The machine created 25 NFTs that were auctioned online for $500 each. This fall, the digital item can be traded in for a limited-edition bottle of cognac at a party in Las Vegas.
Courvoisier looks after his legacy
The venerable House of Jarnac (owned by the American-Japanese group Beam-Suntory) has a new director, has revamped its range and highlighted its heritage. She shares excellent photos of her “castle” on social networks (especially Instagram). The beautiful building on the banks of the Charente is superb; We also wonder if the photos have not been retouched. Because the reality in Jarnac is very different. Built in 1857, the building is under construction. The dealer had the roof renovated and the facade refreshed. The major construction site will take a few more months. But I promise the result will be more beautiful than on the internet!
Camus supports the Order of the Legion of Honour
In spring 2017, Jean-Pierre Raffarin, former Prime Minister, awarded Cyril Camus the insignia of Knight of the Legion of Honour. Today, the head of the Camus House is very attached to the values of the prestigious national order created in 1802 by the First Consul Bonaparte. He has just created a limited Private Collection Legion of Honor (€380 for 700ml), of which a quarter of the sale proceeds will support “the law firm’s heritage restoration projects”. This timeless cognac was presented and tasted at a gala dinner in New York presided over by Army General Benoît Puga, Grand Chancellor of the Legion of Honour.
Frapin optimizes its cigar blend
Frapin has made some changes to its Cigar Blend XO, a blend whose notes of honey, spices and dried fruits will appeal to Havana lovers. The packaging is said to be more modern, but above all “more eco-friendly, with a lighter sleeve, without lamination, whose CO2 emissions have been reduced by 25%”. The container (five medals in the best international competitions since 2018) has not changed. “Extraordinary, with a cigar, but also without it,” assures cellar master Patrice Piveteau. Recommended price, 110 euros.
