Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Everything you need to know ahead of the Switch exclusive release

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is the long-awaited sequel to a major Nintendo license. Good news, the JRPG is coming in a few days, time for us to wrap up everything you need to know about it.

[Mis à jour le 22 juillet 2022 à 11h28] JRPG fans probably won’t get much tan in August! With Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Monolith Soft offers us the third part of one of the most famous licenses of its kind. Highly anticipated by fans, this exclusive release for Nintendo Switch aims to immerse us in an epic adventure that lives up to its reputation. On the menu of this new episode is an immersion in the open world of Aionos, new quests, more polished companions than ever, and a scenario worthy of the greatest epics. While we await its July 29 release, we’re recaping everything you need to know about Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

The world of Xenoblade Chronicles 3

It’s called Aionos, it’s a beautiful continent populated by peaceful creatures and to be honest we were really impressed by the images shown yesterday. The catch is that Aionos finds itself in an endless war between the nations of Keves and Agnus. An all-out, dark war for which all its denizens are forged from an early age. Only appearances can be deceiving, and it seems that the chaos into which the two nations have plunged Aionos is not the only possible solution. Aionos has many landscapes, from lush forests to arid deserts, all in a totally open world where you will find camps, cities, NPCs that will offer you quests … Finally, everything that is Aionos’ prerogative, a good one JRPG.

Who are the characters in Xenoblade Chronicles 3?

The main characters of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, as you guessed it, hail from the two factions fighting each other on Aionos. Initially enemies, this group of soldiers learn to work together and fight against a common enemy. Among these characters we find Noah, a seer, Eunia, a ferocious fighter, Lanz, a melee fighter, Milo, another seer, Taion, a genius tactician, and finally Sena, who has titanic strength. Refugees from their respective nations, they set out in search of the truth about their world and the reason for their endless conflict. A scenario for the less classic but effective.

Combat in Xenoblade Chronicles 3

The key point of the license’s success since its inception in 2010, Xenoblade Chronicles combat always promises to be a complete, thoughtful and deep experience, always based on a tactical system, mixed actions, real-time tactics and complex placement. Each character has their archetype (healer, attacker, support) and multiple skill trees in which they can specialize in different classes. It is of course possible to merge certain basic skills or arts to create more effective combinations during gameplay. Characters can also fuse to create ourobouros, gigantic mechas with impressive power. Also, if you want to see what the gameplay of this new version looks like, our colleagues at IGN have released a video with a few minutes of a stunning demonstration of Xenoblade Chronicles 3:
