  • Announced two hirings and two internal appointments
  • Creation of a new position in New York to develop the ESG client base in the United States

Candriam, a leading multi-specialty responsible and sustainable investing manager, is expanding its ESG development and global climate-related thematic equity teams in response to growing investor demand for its products.

While assets under management reached a record €158 billion last year, Candriam saw its assets under management for ESG products and solutions surpass the historic €100 billion threshold and reach €105 billion, ie 67% of total outstanding assets by Candriam. Global thematic strategies are also doing well, attracting €2.1 billion in net inflows in 2021, bringing the global thematic equity offering’s assets under management to a total of €12.2 billion across 12 funds.

Global Thematic Equities – Recruitment of a senior manager and internal appointment

Marouane Bouchriha, CFA, has been appointed to co-manage climate strategy alongside Vincent Meuleman. Before joining Candriam, Marouane spent more than seven years at Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management where he served as co-manager of climate solutions strategies. He holds a Master’s degree in Financial Markets and Risk Assessment from the Toulouse School of Economics.

David Czupryna, Candriam’s Head of ESG Development since 2018, has been appointed Lead Manager of Circular Economy Strategy. His appointment is a natural transition from his previous role in which he helped develop Candriam’s ESG footprint and develop new thematic investment strategies. David has nearly 15 years of investment business experience.

Marouane and David will report to Rudi Van den Eynde, Head of Global Thematic Equity Management at Candriam.

ESG Development – New position created in New York and filled internally

Alexandra Russo joins Candriam in the newly created position of Head of ESG Client Portfolio Management for the US and UK. Alexandra joins the firm after spending 10 years at Allianz Global Investors where she was a product and sustainability specialist and a member of the thematic equities team.

Based in New York, Alexandra will work closely with Candriam’s 22 members of ESG research and investment teams, providing US and UK investors with an effective conduit for the firm’s key ESG strategies.

Marie Niemczyk, who has been responsible for Insurance Relations at Candriam since 2018, has been appointed Head of ESG Client Portfolio Management. His team will play a key role in bringing Candriam’s ESG expertise to investors, developing the ESG business and offering, and implementing regulatory changes. Marie lives in Paris.
