It was expected. Apple unveiled its upcoming iOS 16 mobile operating system at its WWDC 2022 developer conference on Monday night, but also watchOS 9, macOS Ventura, not to mention the ultimate iPadOS. He also presented his latest MacBook Air and another 13-inch MacBook Pro, equipped with its dashing M2 chip, even faster and particularly well-loaded on the graphics side!

On the iOS 16 and Apple wacthOS 9 side, we particularly highlight the improvement in iOS 16’s dictation system and home screen. Thus, it is possible to very finely configure the lock screen of your iPhone, for example by visually passing the lock screen time behind the head of one of his relatives.

An improved notification system

Various styles are also offered to customize the characters and overall look. Better, the notification system has also been redesigned so that they only appear in groups at the bottom of the screen. They are also configurable or configurable in enough detail by the developers!

In the same vein, Apple has also redesigned the way Messages works. It is thus possible to correct or delete a message that has already been sent immediately after detecting an error. According to Apple’s keynote, thanks to the algorithms, it is also possible to quickly integrate a cropped image.

The plans are in full swing

In addition to the update of Apple Wallet and Apple Pay (later), it is worth noting the improved dictation mode. The keyboard now remains visible and it is possible to correct or add information directly. It’s even possible to dictate emoticons!

At the same time, Apple Maps is improving to counter the progress of Google Maps. Switzerland will also be affected in a second phase and will be one of the first countries to quickly benefit from new functionalities, such as the ability to plan multiple stops. Finally, let’s mention new options for sharing photos with family or security.

Sportier WatchOS 9!

On the WatchOS 9 side, we also offer four new watch faces, including one of the astronomical type and one for children. The notification system and Siri integration have also been improved, such as sleep tracking with monitoring of the different sleep phases. The Apple Watch now also prompts you to take your medication!

Again, Apple does not neglect sports and especially running. Thanks to a new layout and new algorithms, it shows the heart zones and the type/length of your steps to run more efficiently. Better, these indicators will also be available directly in the iPhone’s Health application.

A new super vitamin M2 chip!

Apple has launched its new M2 chip, which once again boasts reduced power consumption. With its even more efficient integrated RAM system and an integrated graphics part, we see that the CPU is 18% faster. According to Cupertino, the graphic part is up to 35% faster at the top.

The M2 chip, either second generation, has also been improved in terms of artificial intelligence (Neural Engine) or video decoding. The M2 has therefore been optimized to decode videos in 4K but also in 8K! Something that nomadic computing particularly supports…

And a new MacBook Air!

In fact, Apple has launched a new MacBook Air with this new processor capable of managing 24 GB of RAM. It’s reduced in volume by 2% while still weighing 1.2kg, but with a MacSafe charger, an audio mini-jack and an even brighter screen and 1080p camera…

Apple has continued to take care of the audio part by working on stereo and spatial audio. Finally, thanks to the M2 chip, no fan and, most importantly, 18 hours of video playback. Thanks to a 67W fast charging system, it is possible to reach 50% charge in just 30 minutes…

MacBook Pro and macOS Ventura
